IBM PC300PL (Type 6862, 6892) - EtherJet installation appears to hang system

SYMPTOM:
During a reinstallation of Windows NT 4.0, Windows NT Setup appears to enter a hang condition when installing the IBM 100/10 EtherJet PCI adapter driver.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies, but is not limited to, IBM PC300PL Series systems 6862/6892 equipped with an integrated IBM 100/10 EtherJet PCI adapter.

The error condition may also be seen in other systems equipped with an integrated IBM 100/10 EtherJet PCI adapter.

Common steps to reproduce the condition are as follows:

1. Begin installing Windows NT4.0.
2. Select 'Participate on a network' during the Windows NT installation.
3. Click the 'Select from list' button.
4. Click the 'Have disk' button.
5. Insert the EtherJet driver diskette, then click OK.
6. IBM 100/10 EtherJet PCI adapter is listed, click OK.
7. Click the 'Next' buttons twice.
8. A message appears which says Bus Mastering has not been enabled for the adapter, Windows NT will try to enable it, click OK.
9. Setup appears to hang on the next panel with title 'Windows NT Workstation Setup' and text 'Installing IBM 100/10 EtherJet PCI Adapter.'

FIX:
Using the mouse, move the Windows NT Workstation Setup panel so that the IBMFESetup window is visible.

Click OK to complete the EtherJet and Windows NT installation.

This error condition will be corrected in IBM EtherJet driver QA7T06A.EXE when it becomes available. Availability of the updated driver can be checked by clicking on the following link:
