TP General - ThinkPad Configuration Utility not accurately reporting hardware profile information

Applicable to: World-Wide

SYMPTOM:
ThinkPad Configuration may not reflect current settings when using multiple hardware profiles in Windows 95/98.

When working with multiple hardware profiles, it is possible to change to a undesired device setting by:
1.) Opening the device in ThinkPad Configuration.
2.) Viewing an alternate setting from a previous hardware profile but making no change.
3.) Clicking on "OK" for that device.

ThinkPad Configuration Utility updates both CMOS data area and the registry data when clicking "OK" when closing the device setup window.

CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 365X/XD, 380, 385, 560, 600, 760, 765, 770

SOLUTION:
This is a limitation of ThinkPad Configuration utility.

ThinkPad utility returns CMOS data area information only. It does not reflect the registry data.

Functionality is not affected, unless one of the actions described above is performed.

Devices are enabled as desired for specified Windows hardware profile and Windows Device manager is correct. Incorrect settings may appear in ThinkPad Configuration when boot into an alternate hardware profiles.
