Aptiva - Using The ASSIGN Command

The assign command is issued from the DOS command prompt. The syntax is as follows:
ASSIGN [drive1:]=[drive2:]
drive1: - specifies the drive to which current disk requests are sent; this drive must physically exist.
drive 2: - specifies the drive to which you now want disk requests sent; this drive must physically exist.
You may include a colon (:) with each drive specified. In order to request that drive assignments return to normal, just type 'ASSIGN' at the DOS command prompt.
Example
You want to read and write files to drive C. The program you are using requires that data be read and wrote to drive A. To reassign the drives you would type the following command: ASSIGN A=C
