TP 760 - Locking up with Ethernet PCMCIA
Applicable to: World-Wide
Solution
The situation actually arose due to the 760 system locking up with the Ethernet PCMCIA (Credit Card) II inserted and the machine running solely on battery power, Follow this procedure as a matter of course.
1. Go to Device Manager with the Ethernet card installed while on AC power.
2. Highlight the IBM Ethernet adapter then click on remove.
3. Take the PCMCIA card out of the machine so that it will not be redetected.
4. Double click on Comuter within Device Manager then click Reserve Resources.
5. Select Input Output I/O then click the add button.
6. Reserve 0120-013f, hit OK, then shutdown when it tells you to.
7. When the machine has finished rebooting, reinsert the PCMCIA card and support for the card will be installed.
8. Goto device manager and verify that the card is configured properly-(sometimes you will need to change the IRQ).
