IBM PC730/PC750 - Dual monitor function fails

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
Dual monitor function (SVGA and VGA) fails to work with Microstation PC 5.0 from Intergraph. The Root Cause of this occurs when an SVGA PCI adapter is used on a PC 730/PC750, the PCI cards configure and disable VGA on the system board.

The Environment, Hardware, and Software applicable in this case are Matrox** MGA** Impression Plus PCI card.

Problem Isolation Aids:
Insert the Matrox MGA Impression Plus PCI card into the PCI slot on the PC. Run Windows** or OS/2 with SVGA drivers from the Matrox card. Enter DOS full screen (VGA).

Note:
The video does not switch to the system board.

Set VGA off on the Matrox MGA Impression Plus PCI card. Run Windows or OS/2 with SVGA drivers from the Matrox card. Enter DOS full screen. You should get video when the monitor is connected to the system board instead of to the adapter.

Fix:
Set the DIP switch settings to disable VGA on the Matrox card and restart the computer. VGA will be active on the system board and SVGA will be active on the Matrox card.
