Supported Operating Systems:

Limitations:
Actual performance varies based upon many factors and is often less than the maximum possible.

Microsoft Windows NT 4.0: Achieving 9.1GB hard disk drive capacity depends on the device driver installed in your computer. You can view the hard disk capacity information by using the Windows Disk Administrator. The Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 ATAPI 1.2 device drive does support the 9.1GB hard disk capacity, but does not support Ultra DMA. Also, with the ATAPI 1.2 device driver installed, the hard disk capacity is displayed as 8691MB when you use the Windows NT Disk Administrator program to view hard disk drive information. The Intel PIIX bus master driver version 2.01.03 does support Ultra DMA, but does not support hard disk drives larger than 8.4GB. Also, with the PIIX bus master device driver version 2.01.03 installed, the hard disk drive capacity is displayed as 8056MB when you use the Windows NT Disk Administrator program to view the hard disk drive information.

Microsoft Windows 95: The full 9.1GB hard disk capacity is available in Windows 95 while using Windows 95 native bus master device drivers. However, the Windows 95 bus master device driver does not support Ultra DMA.

IBM will provide information on how to obtain an update for your computer that simultaneously supported Ultra DMA and hard disk capacity larger than 8.4GB when it is made available.

Other: All systems require Kit 70G8165 to install this drive in a 5.25" bay. Some systems may not have the required IDE and power cables for proper installation. The customer should inspect the system before installation to ensure all hardware required is obtained.
