Aptiva - (US Only) Four CD Changer
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
US models 2168-A44 and 2168-A45 use a quad-speed Nakamichi 4 disc CD changer in place of the standard CD-ROM drive.
CD Changer part number: 06H9440
Problem Isolation Aid:
- 4 drive slots in the same space (footprint) as the standard CD-ROM drive.
- CANNOT use more than one CD at a time.
- Shuffle capabilities in AudioStation
- Can swap between CD's
- Photo CD Support (XA Multi-session)
Lines added to CONFIG.SYS
DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\CHNGR014.SYS /D:IBMCHGNG1 /V
(No locations can be found where this driver can be downloaded from; if the customer is having difficulties re-instating this driver, refer them to the US Helpcenter.)
Fix:
- When recovering machine, you MUST place the CD in Drive 4.
- Pitfall: Must be used in the first slot.
- Cyberia: First slot only.
- Dreams of Flight: First slot only.
- Silent Steel: NOT change aware. You must place all of the CD's in the changer to play that application.
-The icons do not Refresh when you double click My Computer. Customer must refresh it manually
(My Computer menu bar->view->Refresh->)
