Installation Guide
Windows 98 - Overwrite Install
1. Start Windows 98.
2. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
3. Double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
4. Click on the "Install/Uninstall" tab at the top of the "Add/Remove Programs Properties" window.
5. Click on "IBM TrackPoint Support" in the list.
6. Click on the "Add/Remove..." button to remove the TrackPoint software.
7. Restart Windows 98.
8. Follow the steps in - Windows 98 Clean Install - section described below.
Windows 98 - Clean Install
1. Start Windows 98
2. Extract the TrackPoint drivers for Windows 95/98/NT onto the hard drive.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
4. Double-click on the "System" icon.
5. Click on the "Device Manager" tab at the top of the "System Properties" window.
6. Double-click on the "Mouse".
7. Double-click on either "PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port" or "PS/2 TrackPoint" whichever choice appears in the list.
8. Click on the "Driver" tab.
9. Click on the "Update Driver..." button. The "Update Device Driver Wizard" runs.
10. Click on "Next".
11. Click on "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want".
12. Click on "Next".
13. Click on "Have Disk".
14. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted and click on the 'OK' button.
Default path is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TPOINT\.
15. Click on "PS/2 TrackPoint" in the list.
16. Click on "Next".
17. Click on "Next".
18. Click on "Finish" in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" window.
19. Restart your computer to make the new settings effective.
Windows 95/Windows NT 4.0 - Overwrite Install
1. Start Windows 95 or NT. If running Windows NT, logon with administrative privilege.
2. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
3. Double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
4. Click on the "Install/Uninstall" tab at the top of the "Add/Remove Programs Properties" window.
5. Click on "IBM TrackPoint Support" in the list.
6. Click on the "Add/Remove..." button.
7. Restart Windows 95 (or NT 4.0).
8. Follow the steps in < Clean Install > section described below.
Windows 95/Windows NT 4.0 - Clean Install
1. Start Windows 95 or NT. If running Windows NT, logon with administrative privilege.
2. Extract the drivers onto the hard drive.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
3. Double-click on the "Mouse" icon.
4. Click on the "General" tab.
5. Click on "Change".
6. Click on "Have Disk".
8. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted.
Default path is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TPOINT\.
Then click on 'OK' button. Then mouse driver list appears.
9. Select "PS/2 TrackPoint" in the list.
10. Click on "OK".
11. Click on "Close" in the "Mouse Properties" window.
12. If running Windows NT, go to 'Devices' in 'Control Panel'. If the 'i8042 Keyboard and PS/2 Mouse Port' has been disabled, change it back to 'System'. Failure to do this will cause the TrackPoint and keyboard not to function after rebooting.
13. Restart your computer to make the new settings active.
Windows NT 3.51
1. Start Windows NT 3.51.
2. On the Program Manager window, from the pull down menus, select File, Run....
3. In the input field labeled Command Line, specify the path where SETUP.EXE in the TrackPoint driver package is stored.
4. Press Enter, and follow the instructions on the screen.
5. Restart your computer to make the new settings effective.
Restrictions
- Scrolling function is not supported for Microsoft Word 97 on Windows NT.
National Language Support
Only some drivers will be available in other languages. If you do not see a listing like this for additional languages, then that driver is available in English only. The English driver will work in ALL countries.
