Aptiva - RETAIN H057399 Audio Interference (EMEA)

Abstract:
Audible interference may be evident on the loudspeaker output.

Symptom:
During periods of hardfile activity, audible interference may be evident on the loudspeaker output of Aptiva models 2142-S34 & S44.

Fix:
The fix is to be performed by AUTHORIZED SERVICE PERSONNEL ONLY:

- Disconnect system from mains supply and network connections.

- Remove side panel (lift panel at thumb-grip and push towards front of unit).

- Disconnect middle connector of hardfile cable from 5.25" hardfile.

- Remove loose end of hardfile cable from behind the Amp card and plug the end connector into the hardfile. (The Amp card is the small card with 2x 7-pin DIN connectors, adjacent to the power-supply.)

- Tidy the excess cable (including middle connector) into the space between the large hardfile bracket and the small (empty) hardfile bracket.

- Ensure that the excess cable does not come into contact with the system memory.

- Place side panel on open face of base and locate lugs into base slots.

- Support the panel and slide towards rear of unit until fully located.

- Check for secure location by pressing panel towards front of unit.

- Check for secure location by pressing panel towards front of unit (without lifting the thumb-grip).
