Aptiva - 2159 S80/S90 Restoring the original AUTOEXEC.BAT
Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
I accidentally damaged the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on my 2159-S80 or 2159-S90 Aptiva. Is there a backup copy of this file anywhere on my hard drive?
Answer:
If you need to restore the original AUTOEXEC.BAT file on your Aptiva 2159-S80 or S90, there is a file called
AUTOEXEC.SAV in the root of your C: drive. If you can get to a C:\> prompt type COPYAUTO.BAT and press Enter. This
will replace your existing AUTOEXEC.BAT file with the original factory one.
Note: Some programs modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT file when they install. If this is the case and you restore the original
AUTOEXEC.BAT file, these programs may not work. Typically DOS and Windows 3.1 programs change the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file. You should print the existing AUTOEXEC.BAT file or copy it to a disk before performing the above
procedure.
