4/8GB TR4 Internal EIDE Tape Drive - Using the drive under Windows NT 4.0
Applicable to: Canada, United States
To use this drive under Windows NT 4.0 it is a requirement to use the IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/Dual-channel PCI IDE Controller. To configure this do the following:
1. Click Start
2. Select Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Double click on SCSI Adapters and note what is listed in the window under the Drivers tab. If the driver PIIXIDE is listed, it needs to be removed.
After removing the driver...
5. Click Add... (which is under the Drivers tab)
6. Choose (Standard mass storage controllers)
7. Choose IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/Dual-channel PCI IDE Controller
7. Click OK and follow the installation instructions.
The software that can be used with Windows NT 4.0 is Backupexec for Windows NT.
If this drive is causing 1762 errors when the PC it is installed in boots up, make sure to update the firmware on the drive using the Microcode Update Utility for IBM SCSI and EIDE TR4 Tape Drives, TR4code.exe.
