ENGINEERING CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT INFORMATION
What is an Engineering Change Announcement ?
The Engineering Change Announcement (ECA) is a document published by IBM that allows authorized service providers to correct a quality or design condition at no charge to the customer. The symptoms and corrective actions are specific and different for each ECA and are defined in the document.
Why are ECA’s important to your customers ?
The proper application of an ECA can prevent repeat repair actions, improve reliability and ensure customer satisfaction. Each ECA document includes its own unique description, conditions and compensation terms.
Where can I find a listing of current ECA documents ?
Engineering Change announcements can be found in the main support database. Navigate on the web site or in Lotus Notes to the particular system you are servicing and open the "Hints and Tips" section. If there are any Engineering Change Announcements relevant to that system you will find them listed in the "ECA" category. (Note: This document will also be found in that location.)
