9527 17X Display not supported on ValuePoint Performance System

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
If a 9527 (17X) display is attached to a Valuepoint Performance system (64XX), the display may not go into power-saving mode.

Problem isolation aids:
The VP-p does not fully conform to the VESA DPMS specification since it doesn't blank the video before the synch signals are stopped. When this happens, the 9527 assumes that there must be synch-on-green (since the separate H & V have stopped) and continues to search for sync while video signal activity continues.

Fix:
No hardware fix is planned, but a suggested bypass is to use a screen-saver which blanks the display before the power-saving timeout expires. The Windows screen saver offers this option, for example.

Note:
This problem only affects the VP-p and 9527. Other system/display combinations work OK.
