TP 600 - System locks up when PC Card is hot inserted
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
System hangs when a PC card is hot inserted into the Thinkpad.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 600 not running the preloaded Windows 95 (i.e. Windows 95 was reinstalled) with more than 64 MB of memory and/or Norton utilities aggravates the problem. This update only applies if you are using Windows 95 OSR2.0 or higher. If you are using OSR0 or OSR1, use the VMM.VXD file provided with Windows 95.
SOLUTION:
Apply the Microsoft patch file VMM.VXD
1. Copy the new VMM.VXD file over the old one in the c:\windows\system\vmm32 directory.
2. Reboot the system.
To download the file, click here.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This patch is only needed for systems that are running Windows 95 and are not using the Windows 95 preload that came with the system. The preload already has the patch applied.
