TP 600 - Does the SelectaBase 600 interfere with the use of an X-Jack modem in the ThinkPad
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
Can a X-Jack modem be used in the ThinkPad 600 or 600E when attached to the SelectaBase 600 (PN 12J2467) without the use of the PC Card Enabler (PN 83H6741) because of interference?
Configuration:
Any ThinkPad 600 or 600E installed in the SelectaBase 600 using any X-Jack type PC Card modem.
Solution:
Yes, a X-Jack connector modem card can be used while the ThinkPad is installed in SelectaBase without requiring the PC Card Enabler. The only constraint is that the modem card needs to be used in the top slot to allow clearance between the SelectaBase and the bottom of the X-Jack. This should not be a problem because the jack needs the phone line to feed in from the top anyway. In other words you need the top of the jack to be clear for the connector line to feed in.
