Aptiva - Information on replacing your OS/2 system's existing WINHELP.EXE file

Fix: A new WINHELP.EXE file replaces the existing WINHELP.EXE on those systems running GA or ServicePack reporting the following problem.
The problem occurs when you run a Windows application from the desktop in a fullscreen session and use Help. When you close Help and then close the application, you do not return to the desktop. Usually, you end up with a blank screen (with the background color of your WINOS2 Fullscreen session) with the Desktop icon and, under GA, the Clipboard and DDE icons. The only way to close the session is to go to the Desktop by pressing [Ctl]+[Esc] and close it from the Task list. Upon installation of the new WINHELP.EXE file, the session closes properly.
The new driver can be downloaded from the IBM BBS (919-517-0001) and is contained in a file called PJ04582.EXE. The file is self-extracting and should be downloaded to a blank, formatted diskette. Run the PJ04582.EXE file from the diskette and then use the following instructions to install the new WINHELP file.
To Install:
1. Close down all WINOS2 sessions.
2. Bring up an OS/2 Window or Fullscreen session.
3. Type the following command and press [Enter]:CD \OS2\MDOS\WINOS2
4. Rename the original WINHELP.EXE by typing the following command and pressing [Enter]: REN WINHELP.EXE WINHELP.OLD
5. Place the diskette with the new WINHELP.EXE in drive A.
6. Type the following command and press [Enter]:
COPY A:WINHELP.EXE
7. Remove the diskette from Drive A and type EXIT to close the OS/2 session.
The new WINHELP.EXE is now installed on your system.
