What is IBM's policy regarding Original Equipment Manufacturer third party exchanges?
If the equipment is covered by IBM ON-Site service (TSS/PSS) and the third party part that is defective is from a manufacturer that has a Technical Service Agreement with IBM (TSA) then IBM service will replace the failing part with a like part from the same manufacturer. However one point must be very clear. The only parts which have an IBM FRU part number identified on them are the IBM PSG system and option parts. There are no Original Equipment Manufacturer FRU part numbers! This is very critical as the only clear differentiating factor to an IBM servicer is the IBM FRU number on the PSG part entitling warranty. We do not warranty the OEM parts, we simply have agreements in place to replace them with that same manufacturer under the above conditions.
