TP General - Cannot read CD-R discs
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
Receiving CDR-101 errors when attempting to read CD-R discs.
Configuration:
Any ThinkPad with a built-in CD-ROM or DVD drive.
Solution:
The CD-ROM drive should be able to read the CD-R disc regardless of the speed at which the CD was recorded. The CD-ROM drive supports upwards of 50 sessions which should be sufficient for most CD-R uses. The key appears to be that the sessions on the CD-R disc must be CLOSED in order for the CD-ROM drive to be able to read the CD.
