IBM International Warranty Service Registration - Description

Applicable to: World-Wide

International Warranty Service is available for those customers moving products or travelling to countries where their product (as identified by the 4-digit machine type) is serviced by IBM or IBM authorized representatives. Warranty service delivery methods of the servicing country will be in effect. IBM reserves the right to change or modify its service delivery methods by country at any time without notice. Service procedures vary by country, and some service and parts may not be available in all countries because of the laws of that particular country. Some countries have fees that apply where service is provided on-site in remote locations.

To register for International Warranty Service, a copy of the end users' proof of purchase and a completed International Warranty Service registration form must be returned to IBM. If the IBM product (as identified by the 4-digit machine type) is supported in the chosen destination country, the request for registration can be processed.

Please be aware that all Thinkpad users should register for IWS but for other products, if they are relocating within Western Europe countries there is no need to register them for IWS due to EEC laws.

The address of both originating and destination country must be provided and the certificate can be mailed to either address.

The machine type will be located on the product as, for example, TYPE 2176-XXX being the machine type and model. The serial number can be identified as, for example, S/N and then a string of numbers which will contain the serial number.

The TRAVELLER status is identified as, for example, a ThinkPad user travelling to various countries with his machine.

The RELOCATION status is identified as, for example, a customer buying a desktop/server product in one country and shipping them to another.

The request can be faxed or mailed to any IWS office to be processed.

Each IWS office can advise on product support, service levels and how to place repair calls in the relevant countries.
