Appendix A: Installing IntranetWare Support Pack 4

1.0 What You Will Need:

- Flat-blade screwdriver (to install hard disk drives).

- Supported hard disk drives. Refer to http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/compat/ for a list of supported options and part numbers for your server.

- Licensed copy of Novell IntranetWare v4.11.

- Licensed copy of MS-DOS 6.22 or later, or PC-DOS 6.3 or later.

- For the PC ServeRAID II Adapter, you will need:

- PC ServeRAID Device Driver and Utilities Diskette, Version 2.40 (part number 10L9201) or later.

- PC ServeRAID Configuration Diskette, Version 2.40 (part number 10L9198) or later.

- If PC ServeRAID II Adapter BIOS is not Version 2.40 (or later), you will need:

- IBM ServeRAID II BIOS Firmware, Version 2.40 (part number 10L9218) or later.

NOTE: These diskette images are included in Diskette Factory from ServerGuide 4.0.2 (or later) or you can get the 10L9201.EXE, 10L9198.EXE, and 10L9218.EXE files from the IBM BBS, FTP site, or Web site (see the next section for more information)

- NetWare Support Pack v4.0a (filename IWSP4a.EXE). This is available from Novell's Web site or FTP site (see next section for more information).

If you are very familiar with SCSI, hardware, and the installation process, continue with '3.0 Quick Installation Instructions for
Experienced Users'. If not, continue with '4.0 Detailed Installation Instructions'.

3.0 Quick Installation Instructions for Experienced Users:

1. Check voltage switch where applicable (some models are auto-sensing).

2. If you intend to use an external DASD enclosure, refer to the documentation provided with the external enclosure for proper setup.

3. If any ISA devices are installed (or will be installed) that need IRQ's (or other system resources such as I/O ports or memory) reserved, go into the BIOS settings and choose `Plug and Play' and then the desired resource type you wish to reserve. Change the desired resource from `Plug and Play' to `ISA Legacy'.

NOTE: Because of known problems with how NetWare handles IRQ 15, IRQ 15 should be set as an ISA Legacy resource by following step 6. Failure to do so may cause severe performance degradation, PCI device failure, or excessive network retries.

4. Install DOS remembering to use a DOS partition smaller than 2GB.

5. TO load DOS CD-ROM support for the PC ServeRAID II Adapter:

Use the A:\DOS\UINSTALL utility from the from `PC ServeRAID Device Driver and Utilities Diskette Version 2.40' to install the proper device and CD-ROM drivers for the PC ServeRAID II Adapter under DOS.

6. Run INSTALL from the NetWare 4.11 CD.

7. If you are using the integrated Adaptec controller, you may need to specify a slot number for the device. Use slot `10001' when prompted by the IntranetWare installation program.

8. The PC ServeRAID II Adapter requires the IPSRAID.HAM driver from `PC ServeRAID Device Driver and Utilities Diskette Version 2.40' instead of the one from the Neware 4.11 CD.

9. Use the `Novell Ethernet CNE2100 (PCI)' driver for the integrated 10/100 Ethernet.

10. Verify that the SCSI cable (part number 76H3452) runs from the on-board RAID controller to the top of the hot-swap backplane, and that there is a second SCSI cable (part number 76H3454) running from the bottom of the hot-swap backplane to the CD-ROM.

11. Install the desired number of hot-swap hard drives into the hot-swap bays beginning at the top and proceeding downward.

12. Verify that the SCSI cable (part number 60H9316) runs from either the on-board RAID controller or the ServeRAID adapter to the CD-ROM.

4.0 Detailed Installation Instructions:

This section provides complete instructions for the Novell IntranetWare installation.

4.1 Setting Up the Hardware for NOS Installation:

1. If your model is shipped with a voltage switch next to the power supply at the back of the system, please verify that it is set to the appropriate voltage for your location. If there is no voltage switch next to the power supply at the back of the system, your system has an auto-sensing voltage system.

2. Remove the power cord from the power supply.

3. Looking at the system from the rear, loosen the 3 thumbscrews on the right of the system and remove the side access panel.

4. For the initial installation, it is recommended to remove all other adapters and devices that are not required to get the base operating system installed. (For example, if installing multiple network adapters, only install one at this time. If a tape drive or external SCSI devices will be used, just disconnect them temporarily.) After the operating system is starting without errors, add these devices one at a time. This procedure simplifies the installation process.

NOTE: If you intend to use an external DASD enclosure, the following instructions will not apply. Refer to the documentation provided with the external enclosure for proper setup, then proceed to Section '4.2 Setting Up the BIOS'.

5. Verify that the SCSI cable (part number 76H3452) runs from the on-board RAID controller to the top of the hot-swap backplane, and that there is a second SCSI cable (part number 76H3454) running from the bottom of the hot-swap backplane to the CD-ROM.

6. Install the desired number of hot-swap hard drives into the hot-swap bays beginning at the top and proceeding downward.

7. Verify that the SCSI cable (part number 60H9316) runs from either the on-board RAID controller or the ServeRAID adapter to the CD-ROM. After all drives have been installed, close the cover and plug back in the power cable.

4.2 Setting Up the BIOS:

1. Power on the system and when prompted on the screen, press F1 to enter `Configuration/Diagnostics'.

2. Press ENTER to select `Configuration/Setup Utility'.

3. Go to the `Load Default Settings' selection and press ENTER twice.

4. Select `Date and Time' and verify the settings. Then press ESCAPE to return to the main menu.

5. If you are using the on-board RAID controller to boot, you will need to select "Start Options" and verify that the "First Startup Device" is set to "Diskette Drive 0," and the "Second Startup Device" is set to "Hard Disk" or "Hard Disk 0." If "Hard Disk" or "Hard Disk 0" do not appear in the window, then the on-board RAID controller does not recognize your hard drives. Go back to the "Setting Up the Hardware" section to verify that the SCSI drive is configured properly. After correct configuration, press ESCAPE to return to the main menu.

6. If any ISA devices are installed (or will be installed) that need IRQ's (or other system resources such as I/O ports or memory) reserved, choose `Plug and Play' and then the desired resource type you wish to reserve. Change the desired resource from `Plug and Play' to `ISA Legacy' by using the right and left arrow keys. From the 'Plug and Play' window, press ESCAPE twice and then move to `Save Settings' and press ENTER twice. Move to `Exit Setup' and press ENTER. Press ESCAPE and then ENTER to select `Yes, exit the Setup Utility.'

7. The server will reboot. If you see the `Virus Warning' message, Select `Change is expected.'

8. If you receive a `162 Configuration Change has Occurred' message during POST, press ENTER to select `Continue', then ENTER again. At the `Diagnostic/Setup Utility' window, press ESCAPE and then ENTER to select `Yes, save and exit the Setup Utility.'

9. If you see an error message I9990305, it means that you don't have an operating system installed.

4.3 Configuring Arrays Using the PC ServeRAID II Adapter:

1. Put in the PC ServeRAID Configuration Diskette, Version 2.40 and boot The system.

2. Upon initial boot, an error message similar to the following may be encountered: " - Following drives not responding (oldstate:newstate:ch:bay) (ONL:DDD:2:1)(ONL:DDD:2:2)

Your system has a configuration error due to above condition(s). Press F5 - Update adapter configuration to exclude NON-RESPONDING drives WARNING:NON-RESPONDING drives will be set to DDD, DHS, or EMP state. " to accept any configuration changes that may occur. The drives will be setup later in this section to match your configuration.

3. After initializing, exit to the main menu and select `Create/Delete/Copy Log Drive.'

4. Select `Create Disk Array.'

5. Use the arrow keys to select `RDY' drives for each new array. Press Enter on each highlighted drive to add it to the array.

6. Press Esc when finished selecting drives.

7. Select `Define Logical Drive.'

8. Select an array to define a drive on.

9. Specify the raid level for the new logical drive.

10. Specify size for the new logical drive, and confirm with a Yes.

11. A message stating that: `All logical drives must be INITIALIZED after being created' pops up, press ENTER. Confirm command to initialize the new logical drive with a Yes. If a RAID-5 logical drive was defined, a message stating that `All RAID-5 logical drives must be SYNCHRONIZED after initialization' pops up. Confirm synchronization of the new logical drive with a Yes. The synchronization process may take several hours to complete per logical drive.

12. After synchronization, ESCAPE to the main menu. Choose `Advanced Functions' and then 'backup IPS ServeRAID Config.'

13. Verify that the `PC ServeRAID Configuration Diskette Version 2.40' is not write-protected.

14. Enter the file name you wish to save the Config to, or press ENTER to accept the default, then Yes to confirm.

15. Exit the utility, ignoring the message to back up the RAID configuration, again confirming with a Yes.

16. Install DOS. Be sure to create a DOS partition under 2 GB in size.

17. After installing DOS reboot the server. Ignore the Virus Warning and select Change is expected.

18. Insert PC ServeRAID Device Driver and Utilities Diskette. Change to the DOS directory and type "UINSTALL"

19. Accept all the defaults for the installation program by pressing <ENTER> 4 times.

20. Press <ENTER> At the Warning that the LASTDRIVE= statement in CONFIG.SYS may need to be altered. You may wish to review your config.sys after UINSTALL completes.

21. Press <ENTER> at the Warning that the system will need to reboot for changes to take effect, then press <F3> to exit UINSTALL utility.

22. Remove the PC ServeRAID Device Driver and Utilities Diskette and reboot the server.

NOTE: The default drive letter for the CD-ROM drive is D:. This letter will be used in all of the following examples. To change this value, edit the "C:\MSCDEX /D:ASPICD0 /M:12 /L:D" line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT replacing the "D" in "/L:D" with the appropriate drive letter.

4.4 Running the NetWare 4.11 Installation Program Using the PC ServeRAID II Adapter

1. Restart the server and insert the 'NetWare 4.11 Operating System CD' into the CD-ROM drive. Move to the CD-ROM drive letter specified above and type INSTALL.

2. Select the language you wish to install and press Enter.

3. Read through the licensing terms, pressing Enter as necessary.

4. From the 'Select the type of installation desired' screen, select 'NetWare Server Installation' and press Enter.

5. From the 'Select the Product Desired' screen, select 'NetWare 4.11' and press Enter.

6. Select 'Custom Installation of NetWare 4.11' and press Enter.

7. If you are installing to a hard disk drive larger than 4 GB, you may receive the message 'The size of the DOS partition is XXX MB'. It should be at least 15 MB to continue with the installation. Highlight 'Yes' and press Enter.

8. Enter the Server Name and press Enter.

9. Unless you have a specific method of setting internal IPX numbers, accept the default by pressing Enter.

10. Press Enter to accept default source and destination directories for installation, or press F2 to specify a different source path or press F4 to specify a different destination path. Server startup files will now be copied to the DOS partition.

11. Select a locale configuration for the server and press Enter.

12. You can add or delete any special startup set commands. To accept the given defaults, press Enter. If you choose to modify set commands, do so and press F10 to save and continue.

13. Specify whether or not to add commands to AUTOEXEC.BAT to load SERVER.EXE (automatically load NetWare upon server startup) and press Enter. The default is 'No'. If you choose to add the commands, specify the path to AUTOEXEC.BAT and press Enter.

14. If you plan to run this server with multiple processors, select 'Yes' to install 'SMP NetWare' and press Enter. If you choose to install 'SMP NetWare', select 'MPS14.PSM' from the next screen and press Enter.

15. NetWare now scans for available disk controller drivers. You will receive the message `Install found the following hardware but was unable to find a matching driver: PCI Disk Controller 8086.7010.0000.0000.00' (this is for the PC ServeRAID adapter).

16. Press ENTER to see a list of drivers, then INSERT, then F3 to specify a different path for the appropriate driver Insert `PC ServeRAID Device Driver and Utilities Diskette Version 2.40' and press ENTER.

17. Press ENTER when the IPSRAID.HAM driver is selected. You do not need to save any of the following driver files or modules which follow selection of IPSRAID.HAM.

18. You may now choose to add any additional Disk drivers in a similar manner to the above instructions if you have installed additional Disk controllers in the server.

19. NetWare now scans for available network card drivers, If the system selects the `Novell Ethernet CNE2100 (PCI)' (this is for the Integrated 10/100 Ethernet adapter), accept it by pressing ENTER.

NOTE: You may receive the message `Install found the following hardware but found more than one driver supporting this hardware: PCI.1022.2000.0000.0000.25.' Press ENTER to see a list of drivers, then select `Novell Ethernet NE2100 (PCI)' and press ENTER.

20. Highlight `Save parameters and continue' and Press ENTER.

21. You may now install any additional network adapters in the above fashion by choosing Yes and pressing ENTER, or select No and press ENTER to continue with installation.

22. Select `Select additional or modify selected Disk/LAN drivers' and press ENTER. Highlight `Disk and CD-ROM Drivers:' and press ENTER.

23. If you are not using the Integrated Adaptec 2940U/W, highlight `Deselect a selected driver' and press ENTER. Highlight `AIC7870.DSK' and press ENTER.

24. If you are only using one or two channels of the PC ServeRAID II adapter, remove one or two instances of IPSRAID.HAM accordingly in the above manner to leave the number of instances equal to the number of channels you are using.

25. Highlight `Continue installation' and press ENTER.

26. You may now wish to specify any additional Disk or LAN Drivers. If you wish to do so highlight to `Select additional or modify Disk/LAN drivers' and press ENTER. If you are finished adding drivers, highlight to `Continue installation' and press ENTER.

NOTE: You may receive messages on adapters with multiple ports or channels that their particular driver did not load. If you are not using all of their ports or channels this failure message is normal and should be ignored. Press ENTER to continue the installation.

27. You might wish to add protocols other than IPX at the Protocol Selection screen by highlighting 'View/Modify Protocol Settings' and pressing Enter twice. To continue the installation using only IPX, press Enter. If you wish to install additional protocols, you will need to supply additional information at the 'Protocol Settings' screen and then press Escape to return to the 'Protocol Selection' screen. Highlight 'Continue with installation' and press Enter when protocol configuration is complete.

28. At 'Create NetWare Partitions' screen, highlight `Automatically' and press Enter.

29. Review the NetWare message listing the amount of free disk space for the system and press Enter.

30. At the next screen, you can either change the volume size or accept the default volume configurations. To change the volume size, press the Insert key and then Enter on a volume name, and then press F10 to save the change. To accept the default volume configurations, press F10 and then Enter. The minimum recommended volume size for SYS: is 500MB. All other volumes can be up to the maximum size supported by NetWare.

NOTE: If you wish to create multiple volumes at this time, repeat steps 29 and 30 until you are finished, then proceed to step 31.

31. Press Enter to accept a preliminary installation path or F3 for a different path. If you wish to change the path, type the new path name and press Enter twice. The system will now perform a 'Preliminary Copy'.

32. After the preliminary copy is complete, select 'Yes, this is the first NetWare 4 server', or 'No' to connect the existing NetWare 4 network.

If you select 'Yes':
a. Type the Directory name and press Enter.
b. Select the appropriate Time Zone and press Enter.
c. Review the settings for 'Time and Date' and press Enter on any item to modify its value or F10 to accept the values and continue the installation.
d. Specify 'Company or Organization' (normally the Directory Tree name again), and any additional sub-organizations and press Enter.
e. Enter your Administrator password twice and press Enter after each entry.
f. Select 'Yes' and press Enter to save Directory Information.

If you select 'No':
a. The network is checked for existing NetWare Servers.

NOTE: A Master or Read/Write Replica Server in the NDS tree must be active before any given tree will appear in the list.

b. Select an NDS tree to connect to and press Enter.
c. Select the appropriate Time Zone and press Enter.
d. Review settings for Time and Date and press Enter on any item to modify its value or F10 to accept the values and continue installation.
e. Type the administrator password for that server and press Enter.
f. Specify any additional sub-organizations and press Enter.
g. Select 'Yes' and press Enter to save Directory Information.

33. Setup prints out a report of Directory information to copy. Press Enter to continue when you have completed copying this information.

NOTE: Use of a duplicate licensed diskette will cause unpredictable results and is a violation of the Novell NetWare License Agreement.

34. Insert the 'Licensed Diskette' for your version of NetWare and press Enter, or F3 to specify a location other than the A: drive.

35. A message stating that 'The Server Connection License Was Successfully Installed' will appear. Press Enter and remove the Licensed Diskette.

36. Make any changes you wish to make to the STARTUP.NCF and press F10, then Enter on 'Yes' to confirm those changes.

37. Make any changes you wish to make to the AUTOEXEC.NCF and press F10, then Enter on 'Yes' to confirm those changes.

38. NetWare now performs the main file copy to the hard disk drive.

39. Remove the 'Licensed Diskette'.

40. When the copy is complete, select 'Continue installation' and press Enter to exit. Press Enter at the 'Server installation of NetWare 4.11 is complete' message.

41. Down and restart the server by typing 'DOWN' and pressing Enter, then typing 'RESTART SERVER' and pressing Enter.

42. Continue to Appendix A to install IntranetWare Support Pack v4.0a.

Appendix A: Installing IntranetWare Support Pack v4.0a

Appendix A is an excerpt from IWSP4.TXT
1. To explode the file, type the file name and press Enter. Explode the file on the server's volume SYS:, on another server volume, or on a local client that is using RCONSOLE to run the installation.

NOTE: This file contains directory paths that could exceed the DOS limits. The file must be extracted in a root level directory on your local drive or on a NetWare volume which accepts longer paths.

NOTE: A version of the IntranetWare support pack is shipped with the ServerGuide package that you should receive with your server. If you mount the CD-ROM drive, you can use this CD-ROM to simplify the installation.

NOTE: Once you have the Support Pack in an uncompressed format, proceed to Step 2.

2. At the server console prompt, type LOAD INSTALL and press Enter.

3. Select 'Product Options'.

4. Select 'Install a product not listed'.

5. Depending on where the IntranetWare Support Pack files are located, complete one of the following steps:
a. From the local volume SYS:, press F3 and specify the path, including the volume name (e.g., SYS:\directory name).

NOTE: The default path on the ServerGuide Fix CD-ROM is: <CD-ROM volume name>:\NETWARE\IWSP4

b. From a different server on the network, press F3 and specify the full path including the server name (e.g., Server_Name\VOL1:\directory name). This step prompts for a login name and password for the other server.

c. From a local drive on a client using RCONSOLE, press F4.

6. Press Enter.

7. Press F10 to accept the marked options and continue.

8. After the files finish copying, the IntranetWare Support Pack installation is complete.

NOTE: Newer files already existing on the server will NOT be overwritten.

9. Please review the .NCF files for accuracy, then bring down the server and restart it to complete the installation of the IntranetWare Support Pack.

10. Press Enter to end.
