TP 560Z - Considerations for OS/2 Warp
Applicable to: World-Wide
Below is a list of considerations for running OS/2 Warp on your ThinkPad
- When the system unit is docked to the docking station (ThinkPad Port Replicator with advanced EtherJet feature), do not enter suspend or hibernation mode while the network driver is being loaded.
- The following PC cards are not supported:
- Xircom Credit card Ether Adapter IIPS
- IBM 33.6 Host Processor.
- FixPak FX_M002, or later, is required for OS/2 Warp Version 4.
- Suspend/resume operations can cause a sound distortion while playing back an AVI file by the MediaPlayer. A SYS3175 error happens intermittently. If this problem occurs, end the WIN-OS/2 session and restart.
- Green noise appears when you play back MS Video-1 64K color format with MediaPlayer using 64K color.
- Some network interface cards may not work after resuming from suspend or hibernate mode.
- Hibernation is not supported when the drive is formatted in HPFS on a system that has more than 64 MB of memory.
- OS/2 Digital Video Player may fail to play some AVI format video files.
- ThinkPad 560Z does not support 1280 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200 resolutions.
- If the COM port is configured correctly, but does not work, do the following:
- Step to System Setup
- Select Hardware Manager
- Select Folder from the menu item
- Select Properties
- Under the default pulldown menu, select "NO HARDWARE DETECTION" (or change the setting if "NO HARDWARE DETECTION" is already selected)
- Step to ThinkPad Configuration
- Set up COM port as you want
- Reboot the system
- Video window does not fit in the frame, when using 640 x 480 desk top with expansion.
- Screen sometimes freezes after changing video vertical refresh rate.
- The following PC Cards do not work after resuming from suspend/hibernation mode under OS/2:
- Megahertz 33.6 Modem
- TDK 56K Modem
- When the system unit is connected to the Port Replicator with the Advanced EtherJet Feature and is attached to the LAN, the user cannot relogon after a suspend or hibernation operation because the system is disconnected from the network. The user needs to restart the system to logon again.
- CardBus PC and ZV cards are not supported.
- When installing OS/2 Warp Version 4.0 on a hard disk with more than 4.3 GB capacity, use the latest installation diskette available from the IBM Web site.
- Do not do a suspend/resume operation while playing back an AVI file by the MediaPlayer under a WinOS/2 session.
- Microsoft Video-1 format is not supported.
- OS/2 Desktop screen position incorrectly shifts after the following operation.
- Virtual screen (panning) is enabled.
- Win-OS/2 full screen is open.
- Switch from LCD (800 x 600 w/ virtual screen) to external monitor using Fn+F7.
If you have this situation, please switch to the OS/2 Desktop screen, change the Win-OS/2 full screen to a Win-OS/2 window session and then switch to the external monitor again.
- General Protection fault error occurs when opening AmiPro without a printer setting under Win-OS/2 seamless session using 16M colors. If you have this situation, install a Win-OS/2 printer driver and reopen AmiPro.
- DOS full screen session does not change its display output, even after pressing FN+F7 to change displays (i.e. If a DOS full screen session was opened while on LCD only, after pressing FN+F7 to change display to CRT only, it will remain on the LCD).
- System hangs during installation of a WIN-OS/2 component (selective install) if video driver is aready installed.
