PS/1 - Creating Backup for PS/1 2155-x76 Preloaded With OS/2
Applicable to: United States
To make a backup of the 2155-G76, 2155-S76, or 2155-W76, system, you will first need to make the Utility Diskettes. (These diskettes are equivalent to the Recovery diskettes used on other 2133 & 2155 PS/1s.) This process requires two High Density 3.5" diskettes.
Follow the steps below to create the Utility Diskettes:
1) From the OS/2 Desktop, open the WELCOME icon.
2) Select the Configuration Tools icon.
3) Double click on the Make Utility Diskettes icon.
4) When prompted, insert a diskette into the A: drive.
5) Next, the diskette will be formatted and needed files copied onto it. Insert the second diskette when prompted.
For the backup process your will need 35-40 diskettes.
6) To start the backup process, power your system off for 10 seconds. Insert the FIRST Utility diskette and power-on your system.
7) Insert the second Utility diskette when the IBM screen prompts you.
8) The system will start at A:\> prompt. Now, remove Utility diskette 2 and insert the FIRST Utility diskette.
9) Type the following and press [Enter]: BACKUP C: A: /S
NOTE: You will be prompted to insert a diskette for the backup. DO NOT use your UTILITY diskettes for this! When backup process has completed, reboot (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) your system WITHOUT a diskette in the A: drive and it will start as usual.
