ScrollPoint Mouse - Using the mouse

Using the ScrollPoint Mouse:
Clicking and Selecting:
Move the cursor to a screen item and press the left mouse button to click or select.

Double Clicking:
Move the cursor to a screen item and quickly press the left mouse button twice.

One-Touch Scrolling:
Place the cursor in an application or window that supports scrolling. To scroll up, gently push the mouse stick forward, to scroll down pull it back. Within applications that permit horizontal scrolling, scroll left or right, by pushing the mouse stick left or right.

Note: Be sure to use only gentle pressure on the mouse stick; excessive force may cause erratic performance. The side-to-side motion of horizontal scrolling may feel more difficult because your finger is stronger when pushing or pulling from front to back.

AutoScrolling
Make sure the mouse stick is assigned to middle button in the Buttons tab of Mouse Properties. For information on assigning features reference the above section 'Configuring the ScrollPoint Mouse'. Within Office 97 compatible applications, press or tap the mouse stick until the AutoScroll icon appears. Move the mouse to adjust the rate of AutoScrolling The speed will increase the further away you move the mouse. To stop AutoScrolling press any key or mouse button.

Zooming:
Place the cursor in an Office 97 compatible application or window, press and hold the Ctrl key and at the same time:


Data Zooming:
In an Office 97 compatible application or window, place the cursor on the data, press and hold the shift key and at the same time:


HyperJump:
Note: A mouse button must be assigned the HyperJump function before successful execution of the function. For information on assigning features reference the above section 'Configuring the ScrollPoint Mouse'..

Press the assigned button to display the HyperJump grid. Move the cursor to an icon on the grid, then click to execute a command. Or choose the Automatic Execution of Commands options in the HyperJump options dialog box. Click the button assigned to HyperJump and move the cursor to an icon on the grid. The cursor will blink; the command will execute automatically.

To perform a double-click with the button assigned to HyperJump, first choose the double-click Option in the HyperJump options dialog box . Press and release the button quickly.

Menu:

Activates the HyperMenu

Minimize:

Minimizes the current window.

Close:

Closes the active application.

Recall:

Displays the last active application in the foreground.

Vertical Scroll:

Jumps to the vertical scroll bar.

Horizontal Scroll:

Jumps to the horizontal scroll bar.

Start Menu:

Opens the Start Menu.

Resize:

Jumps to the Size grip (resizes the window).


CyberJump:
Note: A mouse button must be assigned the CyberJump function before successful execution of the function. For information on assigning features, reference the above section 'Configuring the ScrollPoint Mouse'.

Press the assigned button to display the CyberJump grid. Move the cursor to an icon on the grid, then click to execute a command. Or choose the Automatic Execution of Commands options in the CyberJump options dialog box. Click the button assigned to CyberJump and move the cursor to an icon on the grid. Menu:

Activates the CyberMenu.

Go To Bookmark:

Jumps to the Bookmark List.

Add Bookmark:

Adds the current URL to the Bookmark List.

Go Back:

Moves to the previously viewed page.

Vertical Scroll:

Jumps to the vertical scroll bar.

Horizontal Scroll:

Jumps to the horizontal scroll bar.

Start Menu:

Opens the Start Menu.

Stop:

Stops the loading of the current URL


Maintaining the ScrollPoint Mouse:

  1. Make sure the computer is turned off and unplugged.
  2. Disconnect the mouse from the computer.
  3. On the bottom of the ScrollPoint Mouse, press in the direction of the open arrow imprinted on the retainer-ring cover. Remove the retainer ring to remove the ball.
  4. Wipe the ball with a clean, lint-free cloth, then blow carefully into the ball-cage to dislodge dust and lint.
  5. Look for a build-up of dirt on the rubber rollers(s) inside the ball-cage. This build-up usually appears as a stripe running around the middle of the roller.
  6. If dirty, clean the roller(s) using a cotton swab moistened lightly with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. After cleaning, make sure the roller(s) are still centered in their channels.
  7. Make sure that fluff from the swab is not left on the roller (s).
  8. Replace the ball and retainer ring.
  9. Reconnect the mouse to the computer.
  10. Turn on the computer.
