Aptiva - How to calibrate the joystick in Windows 95

1. Click "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel", then double-click the "Joystick" icon. The "Joystick Properties" applet will open (see Figure 1). Note that a message at the top of this screen stating: "Your joystick is not connected correctly" indicates that the joystick is not present, or that there is a physical problem with the connection or joystick. You should remove, and then reconnect the joystick cable to ensure a good connection.

2. Select your joystick from the drop down listbox labled "Joystick selection". Some joysticks may be packaged with special Windows 95 drivers that need to be loaded before your joystick type will appear in listbox.
3. Once your joystick is selected, click the "Calibrate..." button. The Joystick Calibration screen will appear. You will be prompted to perform several calibration actions with the joystick. The exact actions that you will be required to perform vary according to your joystick's type and capabilities (they typically involve setting your joystick's range of motion, etc). Read the prompts carefully and follow the instructions provided to complete the calibration procedure.
4. Once the Joystick has been calibrated, click the "Finish" button on the Joystick Calibration screen to return to the "Joystick Properties" screen. Click the "Test..." button to verify that the joystick has been calibrated correctly. If you encounter any problems while testing the joystick, run the calibration routine again.
