Aptiva - Retaining Windows icons when upgrading to MS-DOS 6.22

Applicable to: United States

If your system loses icons after upgrading to MS-DOS 6.22, use the following procedure to restore them:
1. Exit to a DOS prompt. This can be a Windows DOS prompt.
2. Place a blank, formatted diskette in the A drive.
3. Type "COPY C:\WINDOWS\PROGMAN.INI A:" (without the quotes) and press the [Enter] key.
4. Type "COPY C:\WINDOWS\*.GRP A:" (without the quotes) and press the [Enter] key.

Now, if you have a problem with your Windows icons, use the following procedure:
1. Exit to a DOS prompt.
2. Insert the diskette you created in the first procedure in the A drive.
3. Type "COPY A:*.* C:\WINDOWS" (without the quotes) and press the [Enter] key.
4. Remove the diskette from the A drive.
5. Place the first diskette of the upgrade in the A drive.
6. Type "A:SETUP /E" (without the quotes). This will re-install the DOS 6.0 Enhanced Tools.

NOTE
If you have a PS/1 Model 2133 or 2155, you will need to re-install the MS-DOS 6.22 patch file - PS1MDOS6.EXE after running this second procedure.
