PS/1 - Can I use my sound card to control my CD-ROM drive?
Applicable to: United States
Most of the cound cards manufactured will allow the addition of a CD-ROM drive. However, some audio boards do not meet the complete Multimedia PC standards (MPC or MPC2), and may not work properly with the CD-ROM drive. Consult with the manufacturer of the sound card to ensure compatibility.
All Aptivas utilize an IDE Controller interface for the CD-ROM Drive which is built onto the motherboard. The sound card is independent to the CD-ROM controller.
