Netfinity7000 - System CD-ROM: Restoring RAID configuration

SYMPTOM:
When attempting to restore the RAID configuration on a ServeRAID II adapter from a backup located on a diskette using the RAID configuration Utility that was started by booting the system to the "Netfinity 7000 System CD-ROM", the system displays the following:
"Could not find any files with the extensions .ips or .dmc. Press any key to continue."
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
All of the following must be true for this Tip to apply:
- The system is a Netfinity 7000 type 8651 model TM0/TH0/RM0/RH0 configured with a ServeRAID II adapter FRU p/n76H3687.
- The "System CD-ROM" is version 1.0 (p/n4227072) that shipped with the system. The version is indicated at the top of the readme.txt file located in the root directory of the CD-ROM.
- A valid backup of the present RAID configuration was previously saved to a diskette.
- The "Netfinity 7000 System CD-ROM" is used to perform the "Restore Configuration" option on the RAID configuration Utility.
FIX:
1. Download the "IBM ServeRAID, ServeRAID II and onboard ServeRAID configuration diskette version 2.30" or higher from the IBM Website URL:
http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/files.html
It is a self extracting file that creates a diskette.
2. Boot the system with the diskette and restore the RAID configuration using the ServeRAID II Configuration Utility.
Detail:
The "System CD-ROM" Version 1.0 attempts to restore the RAID configuration from drive A: which is the drive letter assigned to the CDROM drive when the "Netfinity 7000 System CD-ROM is booted.
NOTE: This problem has been fixed in the "Netfinity 7000 System CD-ROM" version 1.1 which contains a RAID configuration program that will automatically save and restore the RAID configuration information to or from a floppy drive, thus eliminating the problem. Version 1.1 will be released in the near future at which time this TIP will be updated.
