TP 310E/ED,315E/ED - Creating the Device Driver Diskettes

There are two ways to create the device drivers diskettes for your ThinkPad. The first way can be done if you still have the original preload on your computer. To create the device driver diskettes for your new ThinkPad 310E/ED or 315E/ED just follow these simple steps:

1. Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Create System Disks.
2. On the Create System Disks window, click on Next to continue.
3. This will pull up a list of diskette images that can be created. The drivers that can be created are listed below:

4. Select the driver you would like to create and then click on Next to continue.
5. It will then prompt you to label the diskette and then insert to insert it. After doing so, click Next to continue.
6. When it is finished, remove the diskette and click on Next and it will return you to the driver listing. From here you can repeat the above steps if you have more to create or click Cancel if you are finished.

The second way to create the device driver diskettes is off of the Preload Application CD that came with you computer. The device driver and utility diskettes are located under \DD_Util sub-directory on the CD-ROM drive. Please run the MakeDisk.bat under each device driver's/utility's sub-directory to create the diskettes. The directories where the drivers are located are listed below:

To create the diskettes:
1. Double-click on My Computer.
2. Double-click on the CD-ROM drive.
3. Double-click on the DD_Util folder.
4. Double-click on one of the folders listed above for the particular device driver you need to create.
5. Double-click on the MakeDisk.Bat icon to begin the process.
6. When you are finished with that diskette you can close that window and repeat the process for the other diskettes you need.
