TP 755,760,765 - MWave modem configures to Com1,Com5 or not working under Windows 95

SYMPTOM:
Mwave Modem configuring to Com1 or Com5 or not working
CONFIGURATION:
Anyt ThinkPad 755, 760, OR 765 using the MWave DSP modem. Note: All models of the 755, 760, and 765 do not support MWave.
SOLUTION:
1. Depending on the Mwave software(*) go to either Thinkpad Setup or Thinkpad Features and:
a. disable Infrared
b. enable serial A to com1 03F8, irq 4,
c. disable serial B,
d. make sure modem is set to com2 irq 3.
2. Go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Ports, and:
a. delete everything in the Ports (COM & LPT) section except printer ports, including IBM Mwave Communications Port.
b. Delete any modems listed under Modem.
3. Close out System Properties and go to Add New Hardware, NEXT,
a. select NO when asked if you want Windows to select new hardware, NEXT,
b. scroll down, choose Ports (COM & LPT), NEXT,
c. should come up with Standard and Communications Port, NEXT,
d. Input range should be 03F8 and Interrupt Request 04, NEXT,
e. FINISH, YES to restart. The Wizard should correctly find Mwave modem on com2.
Configuring the serial to serial 1 allows the wizard to correctly find a communications device on com2.
(*) Thinkpad 760 uses Thinkpad Features interface and the 755 series uses DSP icon, serial icon, etc.
