How to duplicate:
Read on IDE channel - This is something that an end user would most likely not be able to monitor themselves
Root cause:
IDE device driver does not perform CRC checks. This should not cause problems in the field unless bad cables or a hard file with strong drive strength is installed.
Workaround:
None there is a bug in the IDE driver which causes it to calculate CRC properly with some devices which do odd count data transfers. To fix this problem the solution is for the IDE driver to ignore CRC . NOTE: if a customer uses the Microsoft IDE driver and has a Western Digital HDD they will have problems (CRC errors) have them use the ALI IDE driver instead.
