OVERVIEW
The contract that IBM Business Partners sign with the IBM Corporation stipulates that only trained technicians may perform warranty repairs on IBM products. Warranty claim submissions may be declined if the appropriate training courses are not completed. To assist you in meeting training requirements, education options are available that include lecture and lab classroom courses, self-study packages, and seminars.

Each of your service technicians who performs warranty repairs on IBM products must:

1. Be A+ Certified
2. Complete the Warranty Basics (YPC30) training course
3. Complete the appropriate base product service training course(s)

Complete service training course descriptions are found in the:

o IBM PC Institute Catalog (http://www.ibm.com/pc/training)
o IBM PC Company Fax-Back Service (call 800-IBM-3395)

Additional educational requirements are in place for the Premier Personal Computer Servicer Program (PPCS), and may be required for future product training. For more PPCS program information, consult the Service Support Guide (part of this data base).

o Capable of using common hand tools, such as screwdrivers, nut drivers, and wrenches

A+ Certification - A prerequisite for all base self-study service training courses. A+ Certification, a computer industry standard testing program, is sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and is designed to test the competency of service technicians.
