IBM PC300GL (Type 6561, 6591) - DMI reports "Log area cleared" on reboot

Symptom:
After starting the Desktop Management Interface (DMI) application, the DMI LOG file reports "Log Area Cleared" each time the system is rebooted.
Problem isolation aids:
This tip applies to the IBM PC300GL, Machine Types 6561/6591.
Fix:
Verify that the Asset EEPROM Write Protect Jumper (J2A1) is not in the write protect position (pins 1 & 2) on the system board.
The Asset EEPROM Write Protect Jumper is normally on pins 2 and 3. In this position, the Asset EEPROM is not write protected. An illustration of the system board is provided on a label on the underside of the computer cover.
