Aptiva - 2140/2142 Considerations - Pointcast

Pointcast does not connect to IE. Detail: On the main screen in Pointcast there is an icon at the bottom left corner for Internet Explorer (IE). If the user clicks on that icon, Pointcast returns the following error: "Error transferring http://www.microsoft.com/ie/default.asp". Answer / Workaround: The problem is due to the PointCast HTML browser not supporting browsing to links to html pages with a suffix other than ".htm" or ".html". In this case, the Internet Explorer link has a suffix of ".asp" as seen below: http://www.microsoft.com/ie/default.asp. The workaround is to launch your standard browser and go to the URL: http://www.microsoft.com/ie. Severity: 3 Preload(s): Both

Uninstall does not remove the Pointcast directory. Detail: Because Pointcast is constantly downloading data when in use, the directory may contain information the customer has downloaded, or otherwise needs. The directory is intentionally not removed to save this information. Answer / Workaround: The directory may be DELTREE'd to remove unwanted files. Severity: 4 Preload(s): Both
