TP 390E - Considerations for Windows 95

Below is a list of considerations when running Windows 95 on your ThinkPad 390E

You may find some of the following problems when you dock your computer to the Port Replicator. For more information, visit the IBM Web site at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support

When you insert the PC card into the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet feature while the computer is in suspend mode, the computer reboots automatically instead of resuming normal operation.

When the system unit is connected to the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet feature, some PC Card modems may not work after the computer resumes normal operation from suspend, standby, or hibernate mode.

Some SCSI cards or ATA cards may not work when installed in the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet feature after the following sequence:

1. Put your computer into standby mode
2. Resume normal operation
3. Put your computer into suspend or hibernate mode
4. Resume normal operation again

• Some PCMCIA Combo cards and CardBus cards installed in the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet feature may not work after you put your computer into suspend mode from the Windows Start button and then resume normal operation.
• PC cards may not be recognized after you warm dock your computer to the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet feature.

• If the warm swap driver is installed, the SMART feature of LDCM does not work. If you need the SMART feature of LDCM, uninstall the warm swap driver using Uninstall.
• When installing Windows 95 OSR0, if Dial-up Network Adapter is selected under a Customer installation, the system will not restart when Windows 95 reboots the computer for the first time during installation. To recover from this symptom, just power off and then power back on the computer and the installation will continue normally. To prevent this symptom from occurring, do not install Dial-up Networking support until AFTER Windows 95 OSR0 is installed.
• If IE 4.0 and the warm swap driver are both installed on the system, Windows 95 OSR 2.5 may intermittently fail to boot after successive reboots on the system. To recover from this symptom, power off, then on the computer. To prevent this symptom from occurring, uninstall either the warm swap driver or IE 4.0.
• When an external mouse is attached to the ThinkPad, the TrackPoint is automatically disabled.
