Aptiva - How to use "F5" To bypass Startup Files in PC DOS
Applicable to: World-Wide
1. Power-on your computer. Immediately after the blue IBM logo screen you will briefly see a black screen with "Starting PC DOS" in the upper left corner.
2. Press the "F5" key as soon as this screen is seen. This will take you to a C:\> prompt. The usual files that are loaded upon boot will be bypassed. The CD ROM and Windows features will be inoperable until a normal boot.
Note: This will only work on an Aptiva using DOS as the operating system. Windows 95 and OS/2 respond to different key strokes on boot.
