Considerations for Windows 98
- When attaching an external mouse, the TrackPoint IV will automatically be disabled.
- When using the DLink Ethernet/33.6K Combo Card (DME-336T), you cannot browse the network after resuming from suspend mode.
- Hayes Optima 33.6K Modem is not supported.
- NEC Aterm IC20 ISDN PC Card is not supported.
- Hayes Accura 56K Modem is not supported.
- Cannot use the modem and network features of the Xircom Multifunction PC Card (CEM56-100MD) simultaneously.
- 3Com Mulitfunction PC Card (3c563D) does not function properly after resuming from suspend mode.
- Zoom video cards are not supported in Windows 98
- Do not suspend the system while playing a video CD.
- Windows 98 may not be able to shutdown properly with some PC Cards installed (Japanese version of Windows 98 only).
- Sampling rate for recording audio is fixed at 22KHz.
- Pause feature may not work when playing back AVI or ActiveMovie files.
- When installing the Windows 98 audio driver, audio may not record properly afterwards if previous audio driver is not completely removed.
- IBM ViaVoice options menu shows an error message but the application will work properly.
- When installing the ThinkPad into the Port Replicator with the Advanced EtherJet, change the resource setting on the modem to avoid a resource conflict.
- When installing the Thinkpad into the Port Replicator with the Advanced EtherJet and Windows 98 is reloaded on the system, audio recordings may be choppy. To avoid this symptom, assign the I/O range of the modem to 3E8h-3EFh in Device Manager.
