IBM PC300PL (Type 6862, 6892) - 18XX POST error with audio and Token Ring adapters

SYMPTOM:
After installing an ESS 1868 Audio and IBM Auto 16/4 Token Ring adapter, the system returns the following, or similar error:
"1850 PCI/PNP Error! No hardware interrupt available."
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies, but is not limited to, IBM PC300PL Series 6862/6892 systems preloaded with Windows 95.
Similar 18xx post errors may be seen when combining ISA/PCI adapters.
FIX:
1. Reboot the system and press <F1> to enter the BIOS Setup utility.
2. Go to Setup/Advanced/Legacy/Interrupts and reserve IRQ5 as an ISA resource.
3. Go to Setup/Advanced/PNP and set PNP Operating System to Yes.
4. Save the changes and restart the system.
