Aptiva - Cannot play DVD movies after Hewlett Packard scanner installation

Symptom:
The system is unable to read DVD movie discs after installing a Hewlett Packard scanner.
Solution:
Update the ASPI drivers installed by the Hewlett Packard scanner software. At the writing of this document, this update was located at http://hpcc923.external.hp.com/cposupport/software/sj270en.exe.html.
