PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This problem occurs during the "audit boot" of the re-installation process. This error has been observed both during restoration of the preloaded Windows 98 and during installation of shrink-wrap Windows 98 over the preloaded version. This is due to a faulty version of DBLBUF.SYS being created on the hard disk.
FIX:
These errors can be corrected by rebooting the system and re-installing the Windows 98 preload again. In very rare instances, more than one reload may be required to correct the error.
