Aptiva - System information applet displays the incorrect processor speed
Applicable to: World-Wide
Problem:
The System Information applet shows the incorrect processor speed.
Explanation:
When the file has the read-only attribute set, the system cannot update the information it contains. Therefore old, and possibly incorrect information is displayed.
Solution:
Change the attribute of the C:\IBMTOOLS\SYSINFO\SYSD.DAT file so that it is not read-only. This may be done using the Windows Explorer or the command line.
To use Explorer to make the change:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Open the IBMTOOLS directory
3. Open the SYSINFO directory
4. Right-click on SYSD.DAT and choose "Properties"
5. Clear the box next to "Read Only"
6. Click on "OK" or "Apply"
To use the command line to make the change:
1. From the Start Menu, choose Programs
2. Choose MS-DOS Prompt
3. Type: ATTRIB -R C:\IBMTOOLS\SYSINFO\SYSD.DAT and press "Enter"
