Abstract: TP760 FLICKERING LCD
Text:
A potential problem has been reported on various models of TP760
where the LCD screen starts to flicker while the battery is charging.
The problem seems to occur while the battery charge is between
30 - 50% and is caused by the AC Adapter Mannufacturing P/N
29H6704 (40W Adapter).
Fix 1:
The fix for this problem is to change the AC Adapter to FRU P/N
85G6701 (35W Adapter) which has Mfg P/N 85G6693/85G6691.
All new production of TP760s are shipping with the 35W adapter.
Fix 2:
This tip applies to the following models:
9546-X9A/X9B
9547-X4G
Flicker is significant when screen brightness is at a minimum.
Replace LCD Inverter with the following FRU P/N's.
XGA LCD panel: 82H5508
SVGA LCD panel: 82H5509
Handling precautions at replacement
***********************************
XGA/SVGA common handling precautions
- Do not pull CFL wires when plugging in/out the CFL connector.
- Do not push the insulation sheet which covers the transformer/
choke coil area of the inverter
(The terminals of the choke coil can be damaged,when pressing
the side of the inverter )
A special requirement for XGA only
- If there exists metal(iron) tape on the LCD module at the
point of the upper screw hole ( one of two screw holes
for the inverter) then remove the metal tape before
attaching the new inverter.
