ISA EIA RS-422/449 WAC Adapter - Dual asynch connections
Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
If we use a 33G8472 (WAC RS-422 ISA adapter) together with a 33G8464 (optional port RS-422), does this permit us to have a dual async connection and is this supported in a PC 300GL 6561?
Answer:
The two port configuration with the ISA WAC motherboard and the 2 RS-422 daughterboards (33G8472 and the 33G8464), is a valid combination for a total aggregate speed of just over 1.6Mbps. This however, does not work in dual async mode, only synchronous, and it must be attached to synchronous modems or CSU/DSU's. The WAC should work in any machine with a standard ISA slot and there have been no problems reported with the PC 300PL. However, there are too many combinations and permutations of hardware and software to make any guarantees.
