IBM PC - Riser and disk cable seating
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
Various h/w faults, POST or disk errors.
Problem Isolation Aids:
None.
Fix:
1. The IBM PC system board is rather flexible and may "bend away" from the adapter riser during assembly or in transit. This should be apparent by visual inspection. The riser is easily reseated once the retaining screws are removed.
2. Some types of disk and diskette signal cables may work loose in transit. Again this should be apparent on inspection. Cables and sockets are keyed so there is no risk of incorrect reassembly.
