IdeaScan Color Flatbed Scanner - The Email button will not scan and launch Outlook Express

Environment:
Windows 98 and IdeaScan Color Flatbed Scanner Setup V1.0

Symptom/Error:
System has Windows 98 installed over Windows95 or has a Windows 98 preload. When trying to execute the Email button via the physical button on the scanner or the button on the EZ Station panel the following message is received, æPlease install MS ExchangeÆ.

Permanent Solution:
To set the Outlook Express as the default Simple Messaging application programming interface (MAPI) client.

  1. Close all programs.
  2. Open Outlook Express.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  4. On the General tab, click the "Make Outlook Express my default Simple MAPI client" check box to select it.
  5. Click Yes when you are prompted to set Outlook Express my default Simple MAPI client.
  6. Click OK, and then click OK again when you are prompted to restart your computer.
  7. Close Outlook Express, and then restart your computer.
