TP 380,385 - PCMCIA slots in the Port Replicator are not being seen in Windows 95
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
The PCMCIA slots on the Port Replicator for the TP 380,385 are not being recognized by Windows 95.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 380,385 with an attached Port Replicator running Windows 95.
SOLUTION:
Usually all you have to do is re-install the CardWorks drivers (choose compact install) while the port replicator is attached to the ThinkPad. Do NOT remove the PCMCIA Socket from Device Manager). You can create the diskettes from Diskette Factory or download them off the web.
There are some cases where this will not resolve the issue. In these instances here is what you can do:
1.) Go into device manager and expand System devices.
2.) Select "PCI bus" then "Properties"
3.) Click on the "IRQ Steering" TAB
4.) Put a check mark in the "Get IRQ table from PCIBIOS 2.1 call" option.
5.) Click "OK" to exit window
6.) Shut Down, turn off the machine
7.) Reboot
8.) At this point the controllers will be seen when the port replicator is attached to the ThinkPad.
