IBM IntelliStation Z Pro (Type 6865) - Windows NT 4.0 installation halts

SYMPTOM:
During a new installation of retail Windows NT 4.0 from diskette or bootable CD-ROM, the installation halts after mass storage device detection with the following, or similar error message:
"Windows NT Setup did not detect any mass storage devices in your system. The installation is halted. Press F3 to exit"
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies to the IBM IntelliStation Z Pro Series 6865 systems equipped with SCSI hard files
The halted installation results from the absence of Adaptec 2940U2W SCSI device drivers on the retail Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM.
FIX:
Press <F3> and then <Enter> to restart installation from CD-ROM, making sure there is no diskette in the X: drive (where X is the primary floppy drive).
As soon as the words, "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration," are seen, press <F6>.
When the blue Windows NT Setup screen appears press <S> to choose the option at the bottom of the screen labelled,
"S=Specify Additional Device."
Make sure <Other> is highlighted in the box in the center of the screen and then press <Enter>.
Place the diskette with the appropriate SCSI driver in the A: drive and press <Enter>. (The Adaptec SCSI driver diskette can be created from the Ready-To-Configure (RTC) CD-ROM included with the system.)
Make sure "Adaptec AHA-294xU2/295xU2/AIC-789x PCI Ultra2 SCSI Controller (NT 4.0)," is highlighted and press <Enter>.
Press <Enter> once more to continue with the installation.
NOTE:
In the event the CD-ROM drive is inaccessible on the target system, in most instances, the RTC can be taken to a system with an operating CD-ROM drive and the Adaptec driver disk created there. Running IBMSETUP.EXE on the RTC will launch the utility to run the Diskette Factory.
After the re-installation of Windows NT 4.0 is complete, the user may be required to download and reinstall Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3.
