3270 Emulation Credit Card Adapter - Point Enabling with a ThinkPad Port Replicator
Applicable to: World-Wide
Description of problem:
Configuring port replicator slots as 3 & 4, is invalid for the point enabler in most cases. The port replicator has a different controller chip that resides at location 3E2-3E3. In order for the 3270 card (Marketing P/N 0933315) to work in the port replicator with the pnt3270 you must tell the program where the controller resides using the /PCIC switch. The /PCIC switch is used specify the I/O address of a different PCMCIA controller chip.
Syntax:
For the top slot in the port replicator
Pnt3270 /S=1 /PCIC=03E2
For the bottom slot in the port replicator
Pnt3270 /S=2 /PCIC=03E2
Comments:
The pnt3270.exe program sees the second PCMCIA controller chip as a logical new unit, unlike the Yamato card & socket services. Therefore, the top slot in the port replicator is slot 1 for the pnt3270.exe program and the bottom slot is logically slot 2.
