Aptiva - Use of Aptiva Cxx in the store

Applicable to: United States

Purpose:
To allow the customers to use the machine in the retail store without affecting the preloaded applications and environment.

Requirements:
1. When the machine is displayed at the retailers, the Demo will run through its main loop in order to attract the user to use the machine. In addition mini-loops that highlight the main messages of the Aptiva will be available to the user by hitting a key. After describing the Aptiva Guide, the demo will allow the user to enter either of these environments in a protected mode. After a period of inactivity, the demo will resume. This period of inactivity will be defined by Communications.

2. In order for the demo to not be to tedious it will periodically drop the user into the Windows 95 Desktop in a protected mode to attract the user to experience the machine. After a period of inactivity the demo will resume.

3. Protected Mode will provide enough security so that the machine is not affected in the store but also allow the user to try out the Aptiva.

4. The option to "Always start Aptiva Guide after rebooting" will not be changed when in the store. This will be controlled in the same way that protected mode is controlled.

This is started when the Retailer sets up their machine for the store.
