Network Station - Persistent display names on 5250 sessions

Static virtual display/device names can be set for your IBM Network Station 5250 emulation sessions by doing the following:
1. Sign on with your administrator level userid to the Network Station Manager via your browser. |
2. Depending on whether you want to autostart the 5250 session (s or add a menu bar button (s select either Programs or Menus under the Startup Setup task. |
3. Select the desired system, group or user default level, and in the autostart or 5250 button area use the optional parameters field to enter the following: DISPLAY_NAME xxxxx where xxxxx is one of the following: USE_USER_ID (provides for a single session comprised of the userid who logged into the Network Station... e.g. jdoe) or USE_USER_ID+n (where n is the maximum number of 5250 sessions the user can have) USE_MAC_ADDRESS or USE_MAC_ADDRESS+n (the session name will be comprised of the Network Stations' unique MAC address) arbitrary or arbitrary+n (e.g. an arbitrary name such as acctg) Please see the Network Station Manager online help for more details on the above and examples. Important: If you are using static session names remember to remove the system default 5250 button since it does NOT use the device naming parameter. |
