TP Dock II - Warm Docking Features
Applicable to: World-Wide
Notes :
The Hot and Warm docking/undocking feature for SCSI devices is not supported for the ThinkPad 750 series.
Fully Docked and PassThru Mode:
There are three modes of operation for your ThinkPad and Dock II:
1. Standalone ThinkPad is operating without a Dock II.
2. Fully docked ThinkPad is fully connected to a Dock II. All functions in
the Dock II (ports and adapters in the slots) are available.
When the ThinkPad is Cold docked, the system boots up in this
mode.
3. PassThru The Dock II works like a simple port replicator. Not all
features are supported in this mode.
The following features of the Dock II are supported:
- External keyboard
- External mouse
- External monitor
- Parallel port
- Serial port
- Audio port
The following features of the Dock II are not supported in this mode:
- ISA adapter
- SCSI port
- SCSI devices (HDD/CD-ROM)
- IDE hard disk
- PCMCIA slots
- Diskette drive port
When the ThinkPad is hot or warm docked, the system attains this mode automatically. To change its mode to Fully docked mode, you need to invoke the Docking Control utility described later.
Windows Docking Control utility displays the above mode as icons.
